CHEF
Joy spent her childhood in Honduras in a mixed Amish-Honduran household. Surrounded by strong female cooks like her abuelita, tia, and mother, she quickly grew up to be confident and instinctual in the kitchen. She decided to take that further and pursue a career in the culinary world in her mid-twenties.
After spending time in bakeries, restaurants, food trucks, and working as a personal chef for several years, Chef Joy finally decided it was time to start a Central American focused culinary company called Lempira Goods in 2024. Her biggest passion is making her culture seen and heard through the language of food.

Lempira Goods is a food brand focused on telling the story of Central American culinary traditions. We strive to highlight the diverse food, culture, and ingredients through customized experiences and food products for your home kitchen.
The name was inspired by a legendary Lenca leader: Lempira. The logo showcases the beautiful biodiversity and landscapes that Joy grew up surrounded by. It also has several important Mayan symbols that hold special meaning. Maiz is a reference to the dedication as a brand/company to uplift and highlight precolonial ingredients.
Who was
LEMPIRA?
Lempira was a legendary Lenca leader who stood as a powerful symbol of resistance and bravery in the face of Spanish conquest. In the 16th century, he united thousands of indigenous warriors in what is now western Honduras to defend their land, culture, and people. His courage and leadership in the face of overwhelming odds made him a hero not just to the Lenca, but to all Hondurans.
Today, Lempira represents strength, resilience, and pride in heritage. Naming our brand after him honors the rich cultural roots and enduring spirit of the land he once fought for. Just as Lempira stood for his people, our food celebrates tradition, bold flavor, and the legacy of a leader who never backed down.
